Color Blocking in Monet’s Garden
The New York Botanical Garden has a great exhibition on display through October 2012, which they describe as a “stunning tribute to French Impressionist Claude Monet showcas[ing] a seasonally changing interpretation of the garden that inspired his art.”
I haven’t seen the garden in person yet, but friend who works at the garden sent me some photos yesterday. I was so excited about the bright colors, I immediately wanted to interpret them into a room. The beautiful brights mixed with lovely pastels also reminded me of this season’s color blocking trend in fashion.
Color Blocking a Bedroom
Here’s a beautiful (and neutral) bedroom. I added some summer colors taken straight from Monet’s garden. Instead of an ethereal Impressionist interpretation, however, I chose a more bold and crisp approach. I particularly like the Andy Warhol prints in the last option.

Love this color blocking! You make it look so easy: any colors could go together, with the same saturation, looks like! And how easy to change it.
Love this color matching….
