4 Full-proof Wall Art Compositions

Email

I’ve hung a lot of art in a lot of homes over the years. It’s the easiest way to dress up your walls or show off your vacation photos.

So, what’s the best composition for your art? Big piece or gallery wall? If you are short on time, new to wall art, or a little indecisive, these are my top four full-proof compositions. They are simple to create and guaranteed to look nice.

Just remember to either fill up the space with art or be very intentional with white space for full dramatic effect.

1) Pair Up

Two equally sized pieces make for an easy symmetrical balance.

2) The Bigshot

The hardest part about this composition is choosing the single piece of art to display! Don’t forget to fill up the space to give your art more impact.

3) Gallery Grid

Grids work particularly well with square shapes, but can also work with rectangles and even circles.

4) Ducks in a Row

A low row is a great alternative to a full gallery/grid. It’s a little unexpected, but works great in rooms where you will be sitting, as you can adjust the row to sitting eye-level. For narrow spaces, you can flip it to a column.

If you’re ever stuck for a good composition, get back to these basics and your wall will look great! What other wall layouts have you tried?
